February 10, 2018 - 1:00-5:00 p.m. EDT
What’s a quinzhee hut, you ask? Think igloo – come as a family! That’s right…we’re going to build quinzhee huts at MoonTree if we have a lot of snow! Quinzhee is an Athabaskan word which didn’t enter the English language until the 1980’s. This type of hut is used for winter camping, survival purposes…or for fun! We will light it from the inside and watch it glow within. First, we’ll make small demos and then larger ones. We have scheduled the date below but if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate and give us snow, we will reschedule for February 17, 2018. Dress appropriately for the weather, please!
