TAI CHI FOR HEALTH THROUGH THE SEASONS – Winter Practice

Tai Chi is a martial art form of gentle, mindful movements, sometimes referred to as ‘meditation in motion’. Traditionally the movements were created by observing Nature in action. A series of movements resembles nature’s ebbs and flows. Certified Tai Chi for Health Instructor, Jennifer Weinert invites you to restore and balance your well-being each season by practicing various Tai Chi for Health forms. Grow deeper in understanding the essential principles and experience the benefits of ongoing practice, as well as the management of symptoms related to common chronic diseases. Scheduled in six-week intervals, Dr. Lam’s Tai Chi for Health forms can be performed standing or seated.

The winter months in the Midwest bring us indoors. Many of us may find our opportunities for physical activity reduced, as we crave carbohydrates to keep warm and stimulate serotonin. This is a great season to learn and practice the Tai Chi for Diabetes (TCD) form. Whether you have diabetes or want to be proactive with your health, TCD incorporates slow, fluid movements with mental imagery and deep breathing that helps relax and strengthen the body, increasing peripheral circulation, muscular strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness.
