Sessions reocurring every other Tuesday beginning, March 8th, from 2pm-3pm ET

As a ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, MoonTree is hosting synodal conversations with people from all faith, spiritual, and non-religious traditions. The purpose of these conversations is to engage people of all beliefs, religious and secular, in dialogue about co-creating community beyond the historical limitations of Catholicism. Embracing the universality of the term, catholic, these conversations will be made richer by the diversity of perspectives shared. All participants are also invited to join in silent centering prayer/meditation immediately following the conversations from 3-3:30 PM at the Lodge.

The conversations will be co-facilitated by MoonTree Founder, Sr. Mary Baird, PHJC, and Director, Matthew Celmer. Sr. Mary has been a Poor Handmaid of Jesus Christ for 64 years. She received her undergraduate degree in Art Education from Alverno College and her Master of Communication Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame. Matthew Celmer has over 20 years of Catholic social teaching education and ministry experience. He received his undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from Loyola University Chicago and his Master of Liberal Studies degree from Indiana University South Bend. His master’s thesis theorized conversation as the ultimate naturalistic and existential method of overcoming passivity, futility, and social injustice. He is in his fifth year of service with MoonTree and has been an Associate of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ since 2020.
